Red Carpet Events – Preparing For A Movie Premiere

Remember To Have Fun

The main thing to remember on your big night is to have fun! Yes, you will probably be nervous for many reasons, but those nerves don’t have to ruin your night. Instead, try to let everything work in your favor – even those butterflies fluttering around in your tummy. You worked hard and it is time to CELEBRATE that hard work on the Red Carpet with all of your friends, family and colleagues you had the opportunity to create with! No matter what the night holds, always remember that this is one more success in your books. Don’t let your ego try to tell you otherwise and downplay your success. Be happy you can experience this big event and make some great memories to go along with it.

Embrace The Unexpected

This one is important my friend. As you know, life can be very unpredictable. Things happen that are out of your control and there is nothing you can do about it. For example, you can’t control:

  • Arriving late…
  • Getting a flat tire on the way to an event.
  • Having a wardrobe malfunction or two. (This might be a more common one. It happened to me at my last Movie Premiere).
  • What people say or think of your performance.
  • Insert any of the hundreds of millions of different uncontrollable situations here _________.

Life is filled with the unexpected happening all of the time, but it is in those moments where you can decide to roll with the punches with a smile, or let it ruin your night completely. Take a moment to breathe through it all and embrace these experiences. Now with that said however, you should always remember that preparation is key! Just like you prepare for any production, you want to make sure you do some good prep work for a Red Carpet Movie Premiere too! For example…

  • Leave early. Rain, traffic, car issues and anything else can delay your arrival time. So be sure to try giving yourself an ample amount of time to get there for your big event.
  • Always check your tire pressure! A lot of people forget this, but it is extremely important. Check it and check your spare tires air while you’re at it too! You never know when you might need it.
  • Dress Straps break, shoes get uncomfortable and things can even rip. Bring a backup outfit or just transform the look into new (I had to make my dress strapless because one of my straps snapped while I was getting in the car).
  • People will always have their opinions, good or bad. Of course we always want them to love and support our work, but you just never know… Don’t worry about it! Instead, be proud of yourself for taking chances and doing your job to the best of your ability! It take a lot of courage to be vulnerable and you get to celebrate that courage.. AKA you!!!

Stress is such a horrible feeling. So, this suggestion of mine is extremely important in my opinion. Make sure you block out the entire day for you and give yourself plenty of time to get ready for the big night ahead.

Think of this day as a time to relax, recharge and reignite your passions for acting. Don’t rush yourself or try to do too much today. If you do, you run the risk of overwhelm which is never a good thing. So have your outfit ready at least the day before, and start getting ready 2 or even 3 hours before! It might sound like a lot, but trust me when I say it is worth it.

Don’t Overthink It

Some people say that you shouldn’t smile or be silly at a Red Carpet event because the photos might come back to haunt you after everything is said and done. Personally, I disagree and would not overthink this! BE YOURSELF! Smile, have fun and make this night your own. People will always have their own opinions regardless and you only get one life. So don’t dim your light in fear of doing something “wrong”.

Actors are notorious for overthinking things, myself included… But you should never try to hide who you are! This is your life and you worked hard to get where you are. Have fun at your big Red Carpet event and shine bright my friend. You deserve it!
